Steel Detailing

Southern Steel Detailers (SSD) provides structural steel detailing services to fabricators throughout the United States.  All detailing is done in house with a quality-driven and detailed approach.  Utilizing the latest technology and BIM software allows our detailing services to help your project be successful.  We strive to detail connections that are cost effective to fabricate and erector friendly in the field.  Tekla Structures is used for all of our detailing projects and is essential to providing quality 3-D models as well as CNC downloads.  Because we understand the importance of CNC downloads, we work with each fabricator to customize our details and output to fit the needs of their shop.

Our Team

At Southern Steel Detailers (SSD), our detailers are skilled and knowledgeable of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) codes as well as typical means and methods of steel fabrication and erection.  Our team consists of six detailers with a combined more than 104 years of experience.  Over 200,000 Tons of structural steel have been detailed in our Lexington, SC office.  As a result of more than 700 successful projects we have a loyal clientale of repeat customers who value quality steel detailing.    

Types of Projects

Projects detailed include a wide variety of structures such as industrial, commercial, institutional, educational, medical, office and most anything else with structural steel.  SSD has detailed hundreds of projects of varying sizes and complexities across the United States.  Our team is capable of detailing projects up to 5,000 Tons.   

Quality Assurance

All detailing is done in-house in Lexington, South Carolina.  Most of all, we believe in delivering quality shop drawings and erection plans and all work is checked thoroughly before it is issued.  Checkers work to ensure compliance with the structural drawings, architectural drawings and applicable equipment cut sheets.
